The
Withernsea and Southern Holderness Regeneration
Partnership was formed in 1997. The
Partnership is made up of around sixty organisations
which work together with the aim of strengthening
the local economy and maximising social
and economic opportunities for local people.
In 1999 Single Regeneration Budget (SRB)
funding was obtained to deliver a regeneration
scheme – Widening
Horizons – to fund projects which
benefit the area. This scheme, and other
funding which has been attracted as a result,
has amounted to an investment of over five
million pounds in Southern Holderness.
The Partnership is managed by a Steering
Team, which oversees the regeneration process,
and an Executive Committee, responsible
for approving grants and budget control.
Three topical committees are linked to the
Partnership’s key themes of Business
and Tourism, Education and Training and
Community and Environment. These committees
make recommendations on grants to the Executive
Committee and discuss issues, and make suggestions
for developing projects to address them.
A team of staff and project workers support
the work of the Partnership, and carry out
the day to day work of co-ordinating and
administering the scheme.
Funding under the SRB scheme ends in March
2004 and the Partnership is developing a
new strategy and actively seeking funds
to continue its work. Much has been achieved
already, around fifty projects have been
developed or supported, and many new community
groups formed, during the SRB period. Click
here for information on some of these. |
